- Black Achievers Award
-
On Friday, October 7th, our High School Principal, Mr. Derek Baker, was honored with the Black Achievers Award at a gala event in downtown Buffalo. The mission of Black Achievers is "to celebrate and showcase the variety and quality of achievements of many African Americans in the community. The purpose is to enlighten, educate, motivate and inspire the community by elevating our thoughts and expectations to the many possibilities and opportunities that are obtainable to us, which can empower us to change the world." Mr. Baker embodies what the mission of Black Achievers is all about. He is an educator inside of our walls and outside of our walls as he champions love, equity, justice, and compassion for all. Sweet Home is certainly lucky to have him as a leader, as is all of Western New York. Mr. Baker was honored, along with 49 other members of the African-American community, that are making positive change not only in Western New York, but throughout the world.
