Students & Staff Meet K9 Officer Manny

Our students (and staff!) were lucky enough to meet Manny today - the Community Engagement and Support Canine for the Amherst Police Department.

Manny's partner, Officer Solak, explained Manny's role in soothing and supporting individuals in crisis, and how it differs from the duties of other canine officers. Manny was generously donated to the APD by the Devin Waring Foundation, and his role is relatively new. They hope to grow the program and help as many people as possible through the unique connection of a Support Canine.

Thank you to APD & Officer Solak for spending time with us today!

Swimming is one of our favorite activities during the summer months. With the number of opportunities and places to swim in our region continually growing, it is important that we stay safe in the water. Attached, please find some tips provided to us from the New York State Department of Health that will help keep all of us safe in our pools and waterways.
