Introducing...Our New Panther!
INTRODUCING…our new Sweet Home Panther! Our voters have spoken, and we are proud to announce the new official Panther logo!
Congratulations to fourth grade Maplemere student Raifah Rana for her winning design!

We could not be more proud of all the students who participated in this contest. Thank you to our amazing art teachers for guiding over 300 students to submit artwork and vote on their favorites, and to every student, parent, staff member, and community member who came out to vote yesterday. For our nine second place finishers, their designs will live on by being displayed in Vergils. They will serve as a permanent reminder of the great work of our students.

Raifah will receive a $500 scholarship when she graduates, courtesy of Dollars for Scholars, and of course…the best bragging rights around! Special thanks to 26 Shirts for their work to bring our students’ designs to life. We can’t wait to use our new Panther everywhere! #WeAreSweetHome

Logo Finalists Tour 26 Shirts
Our student Panther Logo finalists had the awesome opportunity to visit our partners at 26 Shirts yesterday to get a behind-the-scenes look at how their artwork came to life as a logo!

The group, including art teachers Ryan McCaffrey and Dominique Mediak-Pirigyi, were able to tour the studio and warehouse with founder Del Reid. Then, Creative Director Josh talked about each students' artwork and how it inspired him to create the final version. Students talked about their process and the entire group discussed creative work as a career path. Thank you so much for your hospitality and for providing this unforgettable experience for our student artists! #WeAreSweetHome

Come vote for your favorite Panther May 20 from 7AM-9PM at Sweet Home High School! Any student, staff, or community member can vote!

Regional Challenge 2 Change Event Brings Districts Together
Sweet Home has hosted a Challenge 2 Change event for the past few years. In addition to our own, this year a new tradition began: a Regional Challenge 2 Change summit which brought together Sweet Home, Williamsville, Amherst, and Cleveland Hill high schools. Young leaders from each school came together at SUNY Erie and participated in rotating workshops meant to foster collaboration, understanding, and to celebrate diversity of all kinds.

The keynote speaker Hy-Deia Elwadi, Founder & CEO of Powerhaus PR, spoke to guests about the idea of “writing your own story” and embracing one’s own unique qualities and talents. She also led interactive workshops focusing on personal branding.

Sweet Home looks forward to hosting our own Challenge 2 Change event coming up in May. These experiences continue to empower our students to lead with empathy, embrace their individuality, and build stronger, more inclusive communities. We’re proud to be part of this growing movement and look forward to seeing how these young changemakers will shape the future. #WeAreSweetHome #SPGoal1 #SPGoal3 #SPGoal3

Willow Ridge Hosts Science Night & Book Fair
Willow Ridge Elementary recently hosted a Science Night & Scholastic Book Fair. It was an exciting night of experiments, creating, learning, and finding some new reads! Our amazing PTO organized the evening with many local agency volunteers who welcomed students and their families to learn about things like space, climate change, rocks, local animal life, and much more. There was even a planetarium to explore! 💫
Thank you also to our many high school student volunteers and of course, our Willow Ridge PTO for their creativity and organization bringing this event to life! #WeAreSweetHome

8th Grade Students Clean Up for Earth Day
🌎🌿 What better way to celebrate Earth Day than with a little community service? 🌿🌎

Our 8th Grade Student Council took the initiative to organize a community cleanup at Ellicott Creek Park today, showing that you're never too young to make a big difference. Armed with gloves, garbage bags, and a lot of heart, they worked hard to keep our local park clean and beautiful for everyone to enjoy.

We love this leadership in action. Thank you to advisors Jeremy Traverse and Neil McLoughlin for your work with this awesome group! #WeAreSweetHome #SPGoal1 #SPGoal2

Community Coversations with Dr. Ginestre
Wednesday evening, the Amherst Community Diversity Commission hosted a panel with local leadership, including our Superintendent Dr. Michael Ginestre and Dr. Marie Balen, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum at Williamsville Central School

The event, called “Community Conversations”, was moderated by the League of Women Voters of Buffalo/Niagara, Inc. and posed timely questions about our local school communities and the direction of education. Audience members submitted many thoughtful questions around topics such as DEI, social-emotional curriculum, the student experience, and ways in which we can partner with our community to enrich student learning.

We would also like to thank the BECPL Audubon Branch of the Amherst Public Library for allowing us to use their space for a night of great conversation. #WeAreSweetHome

Since 2021, over 40k people have experienced these impactful exhibits in an accessible way. Learn more about their mission on their website: https://mmot.com/ The Mobile Museum will visit our Middle School soon as well. We thank our friends at the Buffalo Jewish Federation for facilitating this opportunity. #WeAreSweetHome
