
Beginning at the start of the 2025-2026 school year, Sweet Home will implement a new Distraction Free School Zone in alignment with New York State Education Law 2803(2), which prohibits student use of personal internet-enabled devices during the school day. This includes smartphones, smartwatches, and similar technology on school grounds from arrival to dismissal. Exceptions exist for medical, legal, or special education needs. Clear communication options and procedures will be in place at each building. This important initiative was shaped with feedback from students, staff, and families. - What are the changes beginning at the start of the 2025-26 school year related to cell phones and other devices?
- What is an internet-enabled device?
- When and where does the Distraction Free School Zone requirement apply?

- What if a smartwatch is not connected to wifi/is not receiving messages? Would it still be allowed to be worn?
