District & Building Safety Plans:

In accordance with New York State’s Safe Schools Against Violence in Education (SAVE) Legislation, Sweet Home’s district-wide school safety plan identifies specific safety and security programs that focus on prevention, intervention and crisis response. This district-wide plan, in redacted form, is a public document and available on this page.

Building-based emergency response plans are confidential. They are shared internally, with law enforcement and with emergency responders. These plans reflect the protocols defined in the district-wide plan. Each school has designated staff members, who have been trained to respond in emergency situations. During an emergency, every possible step will be taken to ensure student safety. If a crisis occurs during school hours, we are prepared to keep your children secure and safe at school should a situation arise that prevents or postpones dismissal. Our schools and emergency responders will make every effort to provide reliable communication with our families.

Please be sure your child’s school has current phone numbers to reach you or your designee, in the event of an emergency.

Code of Conduct:

The Sweet Home Central School District is further committed to providing a safe and orderly school environment for all students and staff. Responsible behavior by students, teachers, district personnel, parents and visitors is essential. The Sweet Home Central School District has an established Code of Conduct which is adopted annually by our Board of Education.

Please know that the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our first priority. If you have questions about district safety, please contact Donald Feldmann, Chief Emergency Officer at dfeldmann@sweethomeschools.org.

Parent Safety Forum 10/2023

In October 2023, Sweet Home held its first Parent Safety Forum. A special thank you to our safety partners from the Amherst Police Department, the Town of Tonawanda Police Department, the United States Secret Service, and Horizon Health Services for conducting presentations and participating in the panel discussions. We encourage all of our parents to watch the forum and gain valuable insight into safety initiatives taking place in the District. Please take note that some of the content is sensitive and may not be appropriate for children.
